OLIVE

It is typical of the Mediterranean regions where the climate is mild and where these trees grow spontaneously or are cultivated. Olive and its fruits have always been part of the history of humans both in the sacred rituals and in the everyday life. The olive was not only used to enrich the food but also in the art of massages and in the cosmetic field. These longevous trees can live for a time of 1500 years. They can reach a height of even 20 meters and the foliage can reach wideness from 6 to 12 meters. The flowers are small, white and perfumed. Processing the olive wood needs a wide knowledge of this type of material and of its peculiar features. Its colour goes from dark yellow with lighter streaks and because of its toughness and the number of knots it has, its processing requires a lot of time.
